CMS Administrator Donald M. Berwick, MD, told physicians in his Feb. 9 keynote speech at the annual conference that the national health system reform law is encouraging doctors and hospitals to embrace quality improvement the way other businesses already have.

The medical practice of Susan Dallas-Feeney, D.O. in West Chester, PA is now benefiting from the key advantages offered by the LenapeMED systems solution. All patient demographics and scheduling are now being efficiently managed via the LenapeMED EMR solution and accessed with state of the art portable computers. In addtion, the office’s telecommunications infrastructure has been updated and equipment can now be used wirelessly throughout the office and patient examination rooms. Existing patient records in paper form are currently being scanned and digitized to allow easy access via the EMR system. These paper files will then be archived.

Current medical records stored in paper folders are being rapidly converted to digital form and loaded into the LenapeMED EMR system to enable rapid retrieval when working with patients. Future creation of paper documents will be significantly reduced as incoming faxes and documents attached to email can be efficiently placed in a patients digital folder.

The Dallas-Feeney office implementation will incorporate additional features of the LenapeMED EMR system to automate various medical office functions such as e-prescribing and improve overall clinical access to patient records in the coming weeks.
